fairy sandwich artist

i had a lovely weekend. spent some quality time with some actual people. handed out shots. realized old crap stopped bothering me. sat on pillows at a bar. found out how much one of my best friends loves me. watched cable. had a real macchiato at a cafe run by italians. took a yoga class. showered in a claw-foot tub. got caught in traffic. didn't really mind.

i went to Subway before my shift and got the combo. the woman asked me what cookie i wanted and i said oatmeal raisin. but then as i was fumbling for my change, she asked me again. i figured they were either out or she hadn't heard me and spotted the macadamia nut, so i said that one the second time.

when i got to my desk, i opened the bag to find she'd given me both. and i'm not even a regular.

that made my week.

  1. Yeah, but you got to watch cable too, that’s pretty sweet.

  2. very true. and i even downplayed how much i enjoyed that. dude, Sleepless in Seattle was on. i LOVE that movie. it was great to watch the sun come up while it was on. but all the freaking commercials were such a buzzkill. yet another reason to get tivo.

  4. I can’t stand to watch movies with commercials in them. They really know how to ruin movie momentum. It’s very frustrating.

Sounds like you need to use that phrase more often! And maybe a few other good ones, like, “What a bunch of malarkey!” or “it’s way past midnight and I have to get up in 6 hours!”

  5. Good weekends can do that for you! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I hope your Fourth is even better!

Mmmm - two cookies . . . AND your best friend loves you.

What more can you ask for?

  6. mmmmm, macadamia nut cookies.

You know it's a good day when you can get stuck in traffic and not mind. Especially for those who drive fast and furiously.

  8. Oh the joys of having cable tv. I remember those days. Seems like when writing took over my life television became sort of like a strange device in my home that I turn on from time to time when I get tired of listening to my own thoughts, and trust me that isn't often. Hope you enjoyed your cookies, I sure enjoyed your blog.

btw, i second your motion for the oatmeal raisin. the stoners who put together this concotion of goodness should be awarded a medal.

  10. yeah, the commercials really kill it. i've almost seen 'goodfellas' about 12 times, but people keep telling me never to see it on cable b/c it's ruined on there.

i know, i'm a lucky lucky girl. whoa, lusting? i may have to step up the beauty regimen to keep up with that.

    welcome icy and lucasj!

oatmeal raisin is my favorite. i'm not sure about karma, but i have had my order screwed up so many times, i think i had this coming.

  12. i know.

don't worry; it's on the netflix -- and it's some special edition. but i'm right not to have seen it on cable, right? i heard they dub over all the bad words and it just doesn't have the same effect.
