what hurts more than the pain

is knowing that I'm old.

I strained or pulled a muscle in my back this morning. This incident is beyond ridiculous, because it didn't happen climbing trees, roto-tilling, digging holes in the back yard or sleeping in an awkward position. I just leaned over in my office chair and reached for my purse. Now I can barely move and the drugs aren't working.

This does not bode well for my first day at the new gig tomorrow.

  1. Um, I'm 19....and that happens to me too. While not as intense to need drugs, pain has become normal to me. Something's wrong with my joints and something's wrong with me saying that.

In my case, it's probably from sheer under-use of all muscles and such.

I hope the pain is eased soon. And I'm so taking up the Sudoku challenge!

  2. I'm so sorry about your back. The slightest twists and turns can really mess up your back. You know, maybe it was a lot of other activity that left it kind of teetering on the edge and the reach for your purse pushed it right over....get better soon!

  3. Yow! Hope you find some pain relief and fast.

    Dastardly non-levitating purse!

  5. Sympathy, etc, but I, too, have learned to live with pain I really should be too young to have. I think it's that as the previous generation ages and comes into pain, they create more and share it around with all of us.

Good luck with the new gig!

  6. I have a friend who has a great story about wrecking his back during a soccer game. When asked for how the injury happened, he admits it was while bending over to pick up the ball. I told him he really should tell people that he hurt it doing a slide tackle or fighting terrorists on the soccer field or SOMETHING. Hope your back gets better.

  7. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The human body was poorly designed. I found a few flaws in my own personal design. Initially I thought I had a good one, but now approaching 30, I think I might have a lemon. I'm considering a trade in on a newer model, but it depends on how much the dealership will give me on a trade in... I'll keep you posted. I hear the '89's are pretty nice these days...
