but what if i can't find it?

Highcontrast has suggested there should be a book called Soul Searching for Dummies, and that I should set out to try and write it. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what soul searching actually is. Whenever I sit around and try to contemplate where my life is headed, the exercise turns into a mental review of what has happened followed by thorough self-bashing over every single thing that I've done wrong along the way. Doesn't really sound very pleasant nor productive to me.

  1. I am certain that none of the people who are "life coaches" know the true path either. They just make money bossing people around and pretending they've got the answers. So, by all means, write the damn book! Voila! Instant job. Congratulations, you are now an author. Or life coach, whichever pays more.

you know, i've totally been on the self-bashing train lately too. talk to kaiya. she helped me off of it and onto the self-worth express. so much more fun!

  3. selfworth express? where is THAT train?

i am famously prone to bouts of self loathing, but i try to keep in mind that great minds, like van gogh, virginia woolf, isabella blow, etc, were too and they still achieved greatness. though they may not be the best examples, cuz the end? not so happy.

  4. I'm not much a book reader, but I'd buy it just to support the author. Then maybe you could autograph it for me, then I can eBay it for twice what I paid.

Wait, I think I might be missing the point.

  5. Omar, you are totally missing the point. What you need to do is make a deal with Cadiz where she autographs books for you to eBay and you guys split the profit. You don't spend any money, and you both make even more money...

wait... that's what I'm going to do. Omar, I was wrong, stick to your original plan. Good luck getting the autograph though, it may take awhile.

  6. Maybe that's what soul-searching is. Relentless self-criticism until you are at peace with who you are and what your faults are.

  7. No, it isn't a pleasant process at all, but sometimes it's necessary so we don't repeat the sam mistakes. I can't tell you how many times I've made the same mistake over and over again. Then I sit back and say, "Man, you are one dumb @#$!" Then I get the lesson and try to move on and not repeat it again!

  8. There's something ironic in the thought of such a book being sold by a soulless corporate greed machine. I like it!

  9. But that's the whole point...the irony and humour of it is all there, beginning from when you say 'Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what soul searching actually is'....it can be a really funny book with all the catastrophes and so on...
