YOU make the call

H and I have been bombarded with questions about when we're going to get married. The day we got engaged, we decided not even to think about setting a date until we had accumulated a certain amount in our "nuptial fund." And while we've both been working very hard (which is why you haven't heard much in the way of posting/commenting lately), it seems like our "2013" estimation is more realistic than we had thought.

So when someone mentioned entering one of those wedding contests, we thought, Why not? We've got an interesting story, right? And we've certainly had to face plenty of challenges together; maybe it's worth a shot.

We spent the afternoon in front of the camera-on-a-timer and had Brian Regan's Comedy Central Special playing in the background to ward off the fake smiles. We probably took more than a thousand shots, but these are the two we feel most look like the normal us. To appease my brother, I'm in half of them without the glasses.

You guys know us pretty well. Which set of these people would you give a dream wedding to?

  1. You guys are adorable! I vote for Photo #2. Both are great, but the smiles in #2 just look happier and more genuine to me.

I really, really, really hope you guys win. Best of luck! :)

  3. I'd vote for the people in photo #2, but as for the quality of the photo, #1 wins.

  4. I like photo #2 as well. There's just something about it...

  5. Definitely number 2. Brian Regan must have been doing his level 8 pain bit at that moment. Also, I think the glasses make you look more sophisticated.

Do you have to enter a video as well?

  6. Also, i think you should get married military style. . . a quick signing of papers at the courthouse now, and a ceremony when you can afford it.

  7. I agree with Nadia/Noelle. Quality of photo #1 is better, but the smiles in #2 are happier. #2 it is!

Glad to see he cleaned the food out of his beard before the picture.

#2! I vote for #2! It's so sweet and happier (like Omar said). I am rooting for you guys like I have never rooted for anything ever before!

  10. Madelyn: Just give me a baby aspirin, maybe cut it in half and I'll be on my way.

Also, I'm voting for #1, just so it doesn't feel bad. (even though I agree with what everyone here is saying.)

  14. Oh my gosh, you're both so attrative, what lovely eyes you have, Cadiz.

I prefer #1, you both look shy and quite old-fashioned romantic...very romantic. This photo is more 'centered'. The lighting in #1 is better. This picture is clearer. And I like the way you touch, without clutching / grabbing on to each other...here the way you touch looks soft, gentle.

In # 2, the smiles are bright but the pic. is somewhat fuzzy, not so focussed and the lighting seems a bit glaring...and I know you can crop the big chunk of settee on the left...but it's there. # 2 seems to focus on too much 'arms', they just seem to take over the pic. Besides, the glasses hide your gorgeous eyes, Cadiz.

  15. P.S. I'm short-sighted so don't think I'm anti-glasses...they help me to see things far away.

  17. Glasses! Glasses! Both photos are lovely, but the second one shows more personality, I think.

  18. I think both are awesome so I don't have a vote. I just wanted to say that, having never seen a photo of you before, you both are SO SWEET. Really, the adorableness is palpable.

    I hope you win!

  19. aww, lookit. i was gonna vote for #2, but it looks like a landslide, so i'll just say that if you win any wedding contest that involves flying people that you've never met to the event so that they can celebrate with you, i want on the short list.

  21. I just have to say, not only is this a genius idea because you could win a wedding, but you could also gain the readership of millions of people.

I don't know what everything you've ever done is, but aside from agreeing to marry my brother, this is the smartest thing you have ever done.
