tonight as we were driving home from work, we were following a hummer. it was your standard military-ish one, black, and from the looks of it, seemed to have the basic features like grommet-y bolts, bench seats along the windows, big-ass tires... save for one frill:
an illuminated "domino's pizza" sign strapped to the roof.
dude, i said to my carpool buddy, you've gotta be kidding me. i had to practically lean all the way out the window to determine that's exactly what the sign said, the thing's so huge. it's beyond my comprehension that someone would choose a vehicle with one of the smallest mile-per-gallon ratios to do a job for which the bulk of your time is spent driving around. geez, who pays for fuel?
that just blows my mind.
It blows my mind that someone who can afford a Hummer is delivering pizza...
ReplyDeletethat has to be pretty intimidating to the other guys at dominos who probably drive cars that rival fred flintstone for speed and pickup. but at the end of the night, i'm sure all the pizza guys jump in the hummer and take off the dominos sign to go cruisin' for chicks. and cadiz, it's not about gas mileage, it's about style, yo.
ReplyDeleteWord.
haha love the title-
ReplyDeleteto answer your question:
its a mafia money "wash" activity :)
My guess is that the hummer may have been funded by, ehem, discretionary income that can't be recorded on your taxes. Lol.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Ale "wash"?
ReplyDeleteMy word for it is "laundromat".
We got lots, vehicles, buildings that are "laundromats". Laundering.
Cadiz......
ReplyDeleteBeen awhile....how have you been keeping? Ahhh being away is so nice...never wanted to come back....but then here I am back in the grind.

ReplyDeleteWas in London , dubai and then off to asia for a bit. ( work related but used a lot of time to do my own stuff ). London was fun catching up with the old schoolmates and neighbourhood gang off work hours. Dubai pretty much the same and had to go to asia for personal reasons.
Had lot of work done but dubai is just awwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeesssssssoooooommmmmmeeeeeeee. Had a smashing time there. Everytime I go back there, I am amazed at changes.

Ur money for gas or your life...
ReplyDeleteheheheeee....
Okay. That makes *no* sense. I try to be open-minded, but....
ReplyDeleteIs it just some millionaire who can't get enough of menial labor? Woke up one day and thought, "You know, I always wanted to deliver pizzas. Guess I'll buy a Dominos and be the delivery tycoon."
Seriously. I don't get it.
it was the princes of malibu. those pesky kids
ReplyDeleteAllow me to shed some unnecessary light on this topic. I bring with me 5 years of pizza deliver experience. No one that delivers pizza has that as his or her primary job. In fact, several of them have that job solely to pay for an extravagance, like a car payment or to get rid of credit card debt. This Hummer driving fool (by the way, last I heard, Dominos was paying drivers $1.00 per delivery for gas and car maintenance) clearly has no idea what he’s doing. The reason you deliver pizza is for the tips. Sure sure, the purist will tell you that they are out there because they love to bring pizza to strangers in a timely manner, but that’s just not true. And you are not going to get good tips driving a Hummer. What he needs to do is invest approximately $423.00 on a ’92 Geo Metro. He’s going to lose money on gas with the Hummer, and he won’t be making it up with good tips when people see what he’s driving. However, the Metro will get you an awesome 40+ MPG in the city, and it just looks like crap to begin with, thus getting you more sympathy tips. He should also have non-matching hubcaps and a lot of dents/primer everywhere. I should really be teaching a class on this…
