I've been in California since thursday, and dreading today the last several weeks. You see, I agreed to cook an "authentic" Indian meal for H's family, and I've been freaking out ever since. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep my nerves at bay and not turn them off to the cuisine all together.
Wish me luck.
I'm not sure if you're brave or insane, offering up a meal to the boyfriend's family on their home turf. For the sake of being supportive, I'll call you brave.
ReplyDeleteCook me one! I could die for some Indian cuisine right now. Anyway, I'm sure you'll do great. It can't be as bad as the time I cooked dinner for PC's parents and accidentally dropped a cube of chicken stock into my chocolate cake batter.
ReplyDeleteMmmm... chicken cake.
ReplyDeleteHow did it go? Did they survive? When I cook for non-Indian friends it doesn't matter what I cook, fried okra with dhal and rice, curried prawns and roti and dhal...they loooove it. Ooops, I remember, you said you can't cook rice...
ReplyDeleteLUCK!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be/was delicious. And rice isn't that hard to make, really.
Don't they make rice cookers?
ReplyDeleteHow did it go? I bet you pulled it off ok.
ReplyDeleteRetroactive luck, Cadiz.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds scary, but I bet the food was great.
Don't worry, you'll do a great job! I wish I were there for dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteooh good luck! what are you making?!
ReplyDeleteThis is late! I hope things went well!
ReplyDeletethey do make rice cookers, but i feel i can't feel good about the hard items i can make if i have to turn around and use a rice cooker.
ReplyDeletei know, it's a matter of pride.
