I like to chat.
I am a bad liar.
Someone told me my face is louder than my mouth. And it's true.
And yet for some reason, I find myself compelled to plan Surprise Party after Surprise Party.
This year, all the planning is overlapping.
And there's quite a bit of stress.
Mostly because I can't keep my stories straight.
I have no idea what I've told to whom.
But in the end the recipients are happy, and so am I.
Unfortunately, being out of a job in a few weeks and having few viable leads is keeping me up at night, too.
And that stress is not quite as rewarding.
surprise parties are the bestest! and I hope you have better luck finding a job than I have so far, or we both might be statistics!

Having been unemployed now for almost two months, I can say without question that work is horribly overrated. Tell stress to take a vacation and enjoy your time off. Then when you're sick of not having a job, win the lottery and make spending money your job. That's what I plan to do. But I'm not sick of not having a job yet. I'm also not sick of double negatives yet.

ReplyDeleteSomeone made me a surprise birthday party once, and I was so surprised, I didn't even realize it was for me. I'd rather know and be prepared, thanks.

I am so sorry to hear that aren't sleeping. I hope you get some rest because it will help you keep things straight in your mind. I'm not good at the whole surprise birthday planning either. I would cave and tell the person. It does always turn out to be fun though. :)

i think the key to surprise parties is to plan it with someone else and have them do all the lying!

ReplyDeletesomeone got the smart idea to do a surprise party years ago, and somehow it's become an insane tradition. which is ridiculous, because everyone plays along even though they know it's coming.
the worst part is when we finally become exhausted and stop doing them. the next poor sucker in line is going to be so disappointed. but that is the nature of birthdays: they're great when you're not expecting anything, and can really suck if you are.
That'd be puting the surprise back into it, though - all suspecting a surprise party, and SURPRISE! There's no party!
