What is up with all the $1,000-plus spending on trendy handbags and shoes these days? Don't get me wrong, I love me some cool mules or a sexy purse as much as the next broad, but DUDE, how are people in my tax bracket affording the latest Coach or Christian Louboutin every few months? Mortgaging their kidneys? Foregoing trips to see grandma? Hiding sugar daddies in their closets?
Take this, for example. Basically, designer Anya Hindmarch is giving the U.K. snootietooties another reason to turn their noses up at disposable plastic grocery bags. But how many people who buy her bags actually get their own groceries in the first place? And you know it's only a matter of time before Americans jump on the bandwagon. Thomas Rogers pointed out, for Salon.com's Broadsheet, that another designer is capitalizing the frenzy and calling them out on it. Now that's what I call wearing your heart on your sleeve.

I think it's mostly people who are in ree-diculous debt. It's GOTTA be.
I like discardig my purse ever 8-12 months. I wouldn't shell out $1,000 on a purse I would destroy so quickly. People are insane!!!
they might be on lists for sample sales, though its still super expensive..
i personally think its vulgar to spend so much on a bag or shoes. fine, get something nice, leather, great quality.. but there is just no need for it to cost over $300 under NO circumstances!
there are some great less know designers that are doing great things and have relationships with leather factories in italy and whose stuff does not cost thousands - i agree with librarian girl- those girls must be in a lot of debt! what is sad is that they're trying to be approved by others JUST LIKE THEM. its like guys spending ALL their money to lease a mercedes.. all that gets them is a ticket to pick up a hooker on a "nicer" corner.
what you got in that BAG?
Similarly: what in the world is in that CASE, what you got in that CASE?

The American dream: to pay for everything with plastic, and then never be able to pay for anything.
For the rest of us, there are cheap knockoffs on Canal Street.
I hold on to my purse until it falls apart. Then, reluctantly, I buy another. It really bothers me because I have to relearn the new bag.
No way I would spend that kind on money on a bag or purse. People are nuts!
it was, apparently, complete pandemonium at whole foods yesterday
My wallet cost something like $2.75.
And X, the title got me saying: What in the world is in that ROOM, what you got in that ROOM?
As a personal sacrifice, I never spend more than $0.00 on a purse. And my last couple of wallets have been gifts...
I'm not perfect though, I spend money on other things that some people might consider ridiculous. I spend about $300 per month on gas for my car... I guess you could say that I'm addicted.
If I ever spent that much on a bag, for sure some drunken mofo would find a way to barf on it. And you know what? If I spent that much on a purse? I deserve that vomit.
