the heat is on

I've been in California since thursday, and dreading today the last several weeks. You see, I agreed to cook an "authentic" Indian meal for H's family, and I've been freaking out ever since. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep my nerves at bay and not turn them off to the cuisine all together.

Wish me luck.

I'm not sure if you're brave or insane, offering up a meal to the boyfriend's family on their home turf. For the sake of being supportive, I'll call you brave.

Cook me one! I could die for some Indian cuisine right now. Anyway, I'm sure you'll do great. It can't be as bad as the time I cooked dinner for PC's parents and accidentally dropped a cube of chicken stock into my chocolate cake batter.

How did it go? Did they survive? When I cook for non-Indian friends it doesn't matter what I cook, fried okra with dhal and rice, curried prawns and roti and dhal...they loooove it. Ooops, I remember, you said you can't cook rice...

LUCK!

I'm sure it will be/was delicious. And rice isn't that hard to make, really.

Retroactive luck, Cadiz.

That sounds scary, but I bet the food was great.

they do make rice cookers, but i feel i can't feel good about the hard items i can make if i have to turn around and use a rice cooker.

i know, it's a matter of pride.
