will power

Part of me is starting to believe the quality of my life would be exponentially better if i could just get out of bed when the alarm rings and stay out.

sigh.

i think your life would be exponentially better if you had a GOOD reason to STAY in bed even after the alarm rings ;)

concentrate on that-

i was about to agree with you, cadiz. but then. ale is right also.

I've been doing that for the past week. alarm goes off at 7, I set it back to 8, drift in and out of sleep for the next hour, wake up at 10.

I sleep in a loft bed, so once I groggily navigate the ladder to shut off the alarm down below, I really shouldn't be that motivated to climb back up. and yet i do. sigh.

Share the secret when you learn it. The alarm olympics I perform every morning is the best 30 minutes of exercise I get each day.

You've really got something here. This whole week I've lain in bed thinking: if I get up to call in sick, then I can go back to bed and sleep some more.

I think you got the wrong “Q.” Getting out of bed early will improve your quantity of life, not necessarily the quality. I mean, they say, “You snooze, you lose.” But I’m not so sure that’s accurate… I prefer to think, “You snooze, you do anything but lose.” Think about it… “anything” is a lot of things… I think I might be babbling… probably because I’m currently in the midst of a snooze induced lucid dream…

LOL.... i'm sorry, i can't help laughing reading ale's reply to guyana-gyal's comment... 'cuz that's what came into my head... 'i tawt guyana was hot... hmmm'

but commenting to your post:
what quality of life are you talking about here??? isn't being in bed and under the warm & puffy comforter the 1 of the best quality of life??? :D

In college, I started putting the alarm out of reach so I had to get up to turn it off. That continued until I had a kid, because now I don't need any artificial help waking up.

sorry o, i have you beat. in college i had my alarm clock across the room AND i had to get up off the top of the bunk bed. unfortunately i could leap off, hit snooze and hop back in while maintaining a high level of drowse. the only thing that got me up was my roommate screaming at me to stop snoozing or she'd unplug the clock.

it's still across the room, and i've perfected the move in 5 paces. it's astounding, if i do say so myself.

Tomorrow, the forecast is for minus FOUR...
I think I will turn of the alarm clock before I get into bed tonight!
Exponentially better than waking up!
