breezy, cheesy

today i stopped to get gas on the way to work and while i was waiting, the wind almost blew me away. i'm not even joking; i had to sort of put my foot against the pump stand thing and stand at a weird angle to block it. the weather guy said downstate set a record of 107-mph winds (the previous record was 81 mph). i can imagine small children traveling like tumbleweed and parents trying to tether them down.

when i was walking into the dungeon-- flying in, the wind was at my back-- the security guard gave me the key to the office per usual:

'hey there, didn't think you were still on this shift.'

'yeap. a couple more weeks. geez, it is really windy out there!'

'sure is. do you know why they call chicago the 'windy city'?'

'yeah, because back in the day of the infamous chicago political machine, some newspaper writer from out of town came here and called it the 'windy city' because of all the blowhard politicians who were just full of hot air.' (i stayed at a fancy hotel downtown a couple years ago and the in-house channel had all these facts about chicago that were so damn captivating that i wasn't even tempted to switch over to cable for about 1/2 an hour.)

'nope. that's not why.'

'uh, YES it is.'

'no, it's not. the reason chicago is the windy city is because wisconsin sucks and indiana blows.'

'har har. see you later.'

This weather business is nonsense. I live in Southern California and I’m chiseling ice off of my windshield in the morning. And I’m sorry, did you say 107 miles per hour?!?!?!?! That’s insane! I think our government needs to stop focusing on wars in other countries and get down to the bottom of this weather problem we’re having…

It was 60+ degrees in upstate NY yesterday. I agree that government investigation is called for.

But then today is in the 30's with 50mph wind. Strangely, that makes me feel better.

Weather has been pretty crazy here as well. Had a warm winter and only within the last week have we gotten snow, lots of snow!

He was just dying to tell that joke to someone... It's windy in PA today too, but not that windy!

Funny writing. My boyfriend's from Chicago. I'll have to pass that one on to him.

I was having the same conversation with an adorable 7-year-old. I told him that it was so windy I might blow away and that he'd have to rescue me. "Just burp," he said. "Like from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." So just burp, Cadiz.

Three guys walked into a bar...

...the forth one ducked.

Sorry; couldn't resist. But really, how can you not enjoy working with guys like that? I mean, it's akin to having your own personal Chappelle's show playing all day and in person.

har har har.

A friend told me how, once, in New York, the wind blow her across the road, I still think she exaggerated.

I think the wind has done something to my blog, it's gone.

We're having loud, whistling wind at nights, and in the day, it's lovely LOVELY weather, sunny but cool.
