trapped in the dish

you know when i said i got cable via a dish and that's all i do now? it's true.

i watch television. and when i'm not watching, i'm setting things to record so i can watch later and when i'm not doing that, i'm thinking about what could potentially be on that i haven't recorded and the amount of space left on the dvr for recording. it's as though if i sleep or do errands or GOD FORBID have the television OFF for any period of time, my brain will slowly leak from my left ear, dripping into a puddle that will run into the drainage grate by the driveway and mingle with the entire community's waste in a big cesspool from which i will never be able to extract it. all because i MAY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING.

but don't worry, my employers have a 12-step program to wean me from this obsession. it's called dungeon duty. wherein i will have nothing but time while waiting for reports at which point i will write drawn out posts to make up for all the ones i could have shared. like the joys of MTVmotherland and how The 4400 is starting up again and MOVIE CHANNELS! or maybe i'll write about something real.

stay tuned.

Dungeon duty? Does this involve unhealthy dampness? Because they-- never mind.

Ever see the movie, "Being There"? As long as you're not as far gone as Peter Sellers' character you're okay.

Actually... *he* was okay. Everyone else was screwed up.

I wouldn't worry. Though "drawn out posts" - yeah. That'd be good too.

You are not quite at the bottom, Cadiz. My dish TV watching consists entirely of scanning the listings looking for something good to watch, yet never quite settling on anything.

Yeah, parents always think they’re doing you a favor by not having any kind of cable TV, but then eventually it happens, and then you realize what you’ve been missing, so there’s a ton of catch up to do. No matter what though, there’s always going to be nay-sayers… They are apparently looking for some mind blowing, enriching experience, and that’s just not what TV is about.

Thankfully I grew up with a television and have never needed the twelve step program. ::phew::

Even though I grew up with Cable (and HBO), I'm still mesmerized by our not-so-legal satellite and the pvr. Some people are born media junkies. It's not your fault. It's genetic.

(sorry to be a tvparty pooper)

ale, my darling, i will never join a gym again unless a) i have someone to go with regularly or b) it offers a class that i enjoy taking and feel obligated to show up to.

believe me, i've tried. but i just don't have the motivation.

HOWEVER, i do feel the psychotic pull of the television waning a little and the new shift in my work schedule will allow me to make a few cameos at my old dance class, so i'll definitely be getting off my ass sometime soon.
