not quite ready for the barn

'did you get that email i sent you with j's baby's portraits?'

'yeah, they were so cute! i can't believe they got a four-month-old to stay still and smile.'

'i especially liked the one where he was leaning on his elbow with that look on his face that says 'he-loooo, ladies!''

'that was so adorable. that's definitely something i'm looking forward to.'

'personally, i'm not so sure. because of j i've learned a whole lot more than i wanted to know about breastfeeding.'

'does it make that much of a difference?'

'i don't know, but with all that pumping and squeezing, i'd feel like a cow.'

But it does burn calories at a surprising rate when a mom breastfeeds.

how can breastfeed burn calories???

For the mom, producing milk burns 200-500 calories a day! That's a lot of running.

To support Omar's claim, last week's Desperate Housewives episode featured a storyline where a mom in Lynette's office was breastfeeding her 4-year-old son--mainly so she could have an easy way to maintain her svelte figure without going to a gym.

I think I'd rather run. And besides burning calories, if the baby only breastfeeds on one side, then the boobs get crooked, which I've learned about with my friend's new baby.

I'm right there with you.

Too much information!

Turns out breast feeding is also best for the baby. There is less chance of overfeeding, as often happens with bottles. And everyone gets more sleep because nothing agrees better with the baby's digestive system then mother's milk.

The kid sounds like a player. In a really infantile way, of course, but I'm telling you, when he gets older...

It's free food for babies too.

Poor mothers here spend $$$$$$$$$$$$ on buying baby's milk that they can hardly afford, that's imported from abroad.

hmm... if that much calories to breastfeed, why i still see many women don't lose the baby weight long after the baby's out and not breastfeed anymore?

I felt like a cow, and dinner when I BF my now grown up girls many decades ago, and they don't even thank me for it, they are kinda grossed out by it and have told me so. Ungrateful brats.
