losing my touch

as i was walking down the metal, corrugated-so-people-don't-slip steps out of the office, my heel caught on the fold-up part of my pantleg and i fell. all the way down to the bottom. my knees took the brunt of it and i spilled steamed milk all over the arm of my coat. i wasn't horribly upset about the way that milk is going to smell later, the fact that i made a tremendous commotion and probably should have been embarrassed, nor the fact that my knees were all red and sore (and when you're brown, that takes more than a slight trauma). i was upset because, though i managed to keep my cup upright and save most of the drink, i have always relied on my agility and quick reflexes to keep me from actually falling down.

sigh. i must be getting old.

For one dreadful moment I thought I'd read, 'losing my tooth'.

I have a teeth-losing-phobia [along with others.]

Now that I see you haven't lost your tooth, I'll go giggle. Sorryyyy...

Yep, old. Very, very old. And this is only going to get worse. Yep. Old people take the elevator so that they don't spill thier lattes.

Nonsense.

For what it's worth I was running out the door this morning because I was late and the strap of one of my numerous carry-ons got hooked on the front door handle and I was promptly laid out on my back.

It was one of those times where you don't get up for several seconds, so you can absorb just how much the situation sucks.

Ouch. I fell on the escalator the other day. and a man from inside a store saw it through the window and actually gestured trying to catch me. it was all my sister's fault.

maybe you can blame it on the milk.

those pants must have been from H&M... while they have nice clothes sometimes they feel half completed...!

hmm- i never fall... if i trip and start nose diving a squadron of cute angels pick me up and place me upright back on the ground.

you should think about getting a squadron fro yourself- i can give you a number to call...

i always get a steamed milk with a shot of almond or hazelnut or something when i got to starbucks. i can't hang with coffee at 9 p.m. or i'll be up for the next two days. i've conditioned myself to only pull out the cafecito in case of emergencies -- i.e. big projects or lastminute packing. it really works.

and ale, the pants were from express. that's the last time i get some from there.

but never fear, the injuries were only temporary. the only thing bruised today was my ego. besides, i almost slipped in the shower this morning, but caught myself. maybe i've still got it afterall.

Ouch! Did anyone see you?

I often find I trip, or lose my step when I focus onthe steps, saying 'dont trip, dont trip'

Whereas if I walk down, not a care in the world, not thinking about it, I'm fine.

Hope your bruises heal soon,
Ms Smack

Wow - you fell down the steps on jon's birthday? That's an homage if I've ever heard of one. Glad you're okay, but I am curious to see what the judges would have rated this one, especially keeping the cup upright and all!

for real. i think the fact that i didn't make a total mess warrants at LEAST an 8.2. however i might be disqualified for cheating, what with the power-enhancing drug called gravity and all.
