get me to the county line

my brother rented the first season of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' on dvd.

watching them again has become a reenactment of when i fell in love with fast cars, mischievous grins and the idea that girls can outdrive the cops, reassemble a carburetor, kick ass and still be able to enjoy a kicking pair of heels. it's me and my brother during lazy summer mornings, and we both still turn to each other during cool parts with our mouths hanging open.

very few duos have the kind of chemistry that boss hogg and sheriff roscoe p. coltrane have. it's beautiful. aside from the fact that boss eats raw liver for breakfast. makes me want to puke.

prostitution in a motorhome/RV/trailer. that just speaks for itself.

sliding in and out of cars through windows because the doors are welded shut. how the hell do they not impale themselves on the gearshift or dent the hood?

junkyards. i don't think i've ever seen a junkyard in real life.

watching it now, i'm a little enamored with bo duke's slow smile (maybe because some of the faces he makes remind me of a certain farmer i used to know who would speak before realizing what he was saying). but i clearly remember liking luke better back in the day because he was the brains of the operation. bo was pretty, but dumb. just goes to show how things change.

miss daisy duke has nice legs, but honestly not much of a booty. that probably speaks to how our image of what's attractive on a woman has evolved over the years, too. and for that i must say, thank you, jennifer lopez.

waylon jennings. his commentary, especially during the pauses in the action and right before the commercial breaks, made the show.

i could go on, but we're only on the first disc. however, i fear for those who will be sharing the road with me tomorrow. i'm feeling a little inspired.

(p.s. movie remake? what movie remake? knoxville and that kid from american pie can in no way live up to wopat/schneider. do they even know how to hold a bow and arrow? and though jessica simpson looks the part, she just doesn't seem to quick enough to play a firecracker like daisy. that's nine bucks i won't be spending.)

I agree - I don't think that the new movie can even compare. I really don't have any interest in seeing it.

I have some memories of watching the show...I always though Bo was a cutie! ;)

Honestly, I don't even know what the people doing the casting for that movie were thinking.

And I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank j-lo as well. Thanks, Jenny from the block! And while I'm at it, thanks to Sir Mix-A-Lot too.

The movie looks like total garbage. I can't even form a cromulent sentence to fully describe the stupidity I expect will spew from the movie... Just look at the lead actors, some of the dumbest people and worst actors alive.

Oh well, we'll always have the original!

i'm a purist at heart when it comes to the Dukes. if you don't believe me, you should see the way i scream at the television during Season 3 when they bring in the fake bo and luke duke to replace wopat and schneider. it's like Chippendales meets Hazzard County. the opening montage features the fake bo and luke duke chopping wood without their shirts on and performing manual labor tasks on the duke farm. i jump off the recliner and start screaming at the television.

"You are not Bo and Luke Duke!" I'll scream.

also, there was no way uncle jesse could have ever fit in the backseat of the general lee. lastly, i have complained about the construction in the city of new orleans, but hazzard county takes the cake on this one. through all of the seasons they seem to pass through a construction zone of some sort. it's as if construction is an ever-going process in hazzard county. that town must've had one helluva legislative process to have all that construction going on. oh well, mad props go to wopat and schneider who were known for performing their own acting and driving stunts themselves.

i'm a purist, too. that coy and vance b.s. had me irate, too. i was like 'who the hell are these fools?' what do they think, we're stupid? i don't care how pretty they are, they can't top the originals. thank goodness they gave those guys a bigger cut of the profits and got them back, because that would have just killed the show.

and i feel the same about this sorry excuse for a movie, too. i saw jessica simpson on access hollywood being trained to pseudo stunt drive and she was pathetic. at least catherine bach could handle a ride (or at least make it look like she could. wasn't she a stuntwoman, though?). for god's sake. i can't wait for this remake madness to be over.

I feel exactly the same way as everyone else here. Huge DoH purist. It wasn’t just about the care either, Vance and Coy blew and we all knew it. It wasn’t their fault, they just weren’t Bo and Luke. The show is one of my all time favorites and I still love watching it. I wish shows like that could exist in today’s TV market, but they just can’t. Having said all that, I will most likely go see this movie because I can’t not know how it turns out. If nothing else, I want to see that beautiful car again. I will ignore all else in the movie but the car. I kind of want this remake madness to end, but there seems to be a severe lack of creativity in the movie industry lately. If they are going to remake old shows and movies (ie Bad News Bears, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) I think they need to go with the lesser known, not the really popular ones. The only show I’d like to see them make a movie out of right now is The Greatest American Hero. I think you could definitely get away with that and make a solid movie out of it. Just my opinion though…

that show has the best themesong. and besides, longish curly hair on boys is making a comeback. it's a great suggestion. that and 'the bionic woman.'

I am proud to admit that I absolutely loved that show. Boss hog and Rosco excited me more than Bo and Luke Im afraid. Probably because they were always plotting something that always went totally wrong. Isn't that just like life. Thank You J-Lo but I had it before Jenny ever thought about hitting the block. Anyway, I'm gonna waste nine bucks and see the movie because well, this is the first movie I've actually been excited about in the past couple of years. Except for the incredibles that is. What can I say, I need a life.
