Like a marathon, without all the puking

In 2006 while I was bored in the dungeon, I stumbled upon fussy.org, where Eden announced her idea of posting every day for the month of November. I felt sort of like a 15th-century explorer; I was all proud of my "discovery," but by the time I joined, some eight hundred people had already found it and signed up before me.

It was pretty fun, even though it was tricky coming up with something interesting to say every day (and there were a few crazy posts that month). At that time I was nearing the end of my contract at the dungeon and looking for a new job as well as flying back and forth to see H in California every other month. I participated in NaBloPoMo again last year, when the job dissolved and I decided to get in on the startup company. But that November I had a little more free time for stuff like sitting outside in the arctic all night.

This year, I've signed up yet again, and even though I don't have a ton of time (guess what, I have to look for a job again; is there a pattern here?), I'm pretty pumped about posting every day. H now lives here, I've been working days in a roomy office that gets sunlight and my life seems so completely different from 2006, even though I can still see that damn office building every time I look out my living room window.

Posting every day of the month is so much better with a whole community of people supporting each other with comments. And it's really blown up: There are two tons of bloggers who participated last year--I decided to try and click on and maybe comment on every single link from Z to A* sometime last December before work started, and I'm STILL only in the middle of the Ls (and I've put in some SERIOUS TIME toward that little endeavor)! I'm sure it'll be even bigger this November.

So keep checking on me here this month. Leave lots of comments so I don't give up hope that I'll be able to make it 30 days in a row. For the next two weeks I'm pretty busy, but I'll make time to comment because I know how important it is. Plus I've already lined up several guest posts by people I've talked about on this blog** to help me through the hard times, and from me I promise lots and lots of complaining. Enjoy!

*It's totally been worth it; I've found some great blogs and I fully intend on getting all the way to through the As. It just might take awhile, but I've got some free time coming up...

Try stream of consciousness, anything and everything that comes to mind...did I say this last year? If so, shees, I'm repeating my self like old folks and I ain't even old.

I wanted to do it this year again too, but with the dissertation going strong, I really can't commit myself to it. Good luck though!

And don't worry, the dissertation doesn't get in the way of my blog reading/posting capacity!

I meant blog reading/commenting - not posting. *sigh*
